Katie Couric discussed her infamous interview with Sarah Palin Wednesday night on the "Late Show with David Letterman." Couric took Letterman inside the process of scheduling Palin's interviews — the campaign actually rushed an interview because "they didn't want a week to go by without hearing anything from Governor Palin," as Couric put it — and said the campaign was "very generous" and gave her "tremendous access" to Palin.

Couric said that Palin may have gotten tripped up because she was not prepared to answer more general questions during their interview following her visit to the UN.

"I started by asking her who most impressed her as Vice President and why, what was the best and worst things Dick Cheney had done as Vice President, why was Roe v. Wade an ill-conceived or a bad Supreme Court decision," Couric told Letterman. "And I think she really hadn't anticipated those kinds of questions, so I think it might've thrown her off a bit. And then we got into foreign policy — because, after all, she was at the UN meeting with world leaders — and clearly she was struggling with some of those answers."

While Couric did note that, in Palin's defense, they were not easy questions to answer, Letterman reminded her that the "What newspapers and magazines do you read?" question was an easy one that Palin blew. Couric explained how it came about and said that she disagrees with the way Palin is characterizing the question in post-election interviews.

"We we doing one of these walk-and-talks, it was a casual part of the interview, and I just said, 'I'm curious, what do you read? What has helped you shape your worldview? What do you read to stay informed?'" Couric explained.

"A good question but an easy question," Letterman said.

"It was just really something I was curious about," Couric said, "and I'm not sure whether she was afraid to offend certain people, if she would offend conservatives by saying she read the New York Times....Even in the post-election interviews, Dave, that she's done, nobody's really asked her, 'Why didn't you answer that question?' She claims that I said, 'What do you read up there in Alaska?' as if people in Alaska don't read or don't have access to reading materials. I never said that. I'm aware people in Alaska have access."

Couric also shared one question she asked both Palin and Biden that didn't air — what they missed most on the campaign trail. Palin missed running every day, while Biden missed being Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

 CNN is reporting Wednesday night that Obama has chosen Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano to become secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

President-elect Barack Obama's top choice for secretary of homeland security is Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, multiple Democratic sources close to the transition told CNN on condition of anonymity.


One source said he believed the final decision depends on the vetting of the Democratic governor, much like the selection of Eric Holder for attorney general.

Friends, I am frustrated with all the smoke from the fires. Went out in the morning 3 days ago. It was just enough time for me to see the shoe repair guy, then go sit in Starbucks. So basically I was outside very little and didn't smell any smoke, it was supposed to have cleared. Damn (scuzame french), I started wheezing an hour later and I don't have asthma. Last year, when the fires hit, I ended up with a sensitive airway and constant coughing which took almost a year to clear up after numerous bouts of pneumonia, treatments and mild steriod use. I had to go to a lung specialist. It just cleared up and now, I'm back to freakin square one. Here goes another frustrating year of coughing and headaches. I'm sick as a hound dog, the air still is thick with smoke even though the fires are out and they say the air is clear. No way Jose, it's filthy and I might as well cup my mouth around a big rig's pipe muffler and take a big hit. All I can think of is all the poor little kids with asthma and what their poor working moms have to go through, like Emergency Rooms until all hours of the night, treatments, having your boss pissed off at you because you had to call in absent AGAIN. Let's take our hats off to the working moms/parents and their babies, they sure could use a break.

The new contract demands that Deetroit's BIG 3 changesw its operational strategies and starts to design and market the world's most fuel efflicient cars ASAP. Any loans or govt. assistance will depend on the Big Three ageeing to and signing the deal.
The contract shud be drawn up by congerssional staffers from noth parties (Dems and GOP) and presented as a fait accompli , a final offer, to the BIG Three and of course, all negotiations shud be transparent and widely publicized.

What to expect from the World of Warcraft expansion due out November 13, 2008 - It's been the biggest, most recognizable name in PC gaming for almost four years now.
They have been added some more notable features. Some are listed below:
New Continent: Northrend There's a brand new continent to explore in Wrath of the Lich King, the frigid realm of Northrend. Also known as "the roof of the world," Northrend is the home of the eponymous Lich King as well as the infamous Scourge. Northrend will provide plenty of high-content between 70 and 80. For the players who want to adventure in the WOW , they need to Wrath of the Lich King Power Leveling, Along the way, in addition to a huge array of new quests, players will also get to tangle with new dungeon and raid content for all sorts of armor, items, World of Warcraft Power Leveling, and weaponry.
Hero Class: The Death Knight Wrath of the Lich King will introduce the first hero class to World of Warcraft the Death Knight. Hero classes are elite, high WOTLK Power Leveling classes that you have to earn; there's no way to create a Death Knight character at level 1 with a new character. Instead, you must have an existing level 55 character or higher in order to create a Death Knight who starts at level 55. Armed with their signature runeswords, Death Knights are essentially front-line tanks, capable of absorbing a lot of damage while also dishing out plenty of hurt in return. Cloaked in dark robes, Death Knights are an ominous sight on the battlefield. Death Knights rely on a unique resource system that's based on runes rather than mana or rage. They build up runic power as they're in combat, and this lets them use some of their more powerful abilities. They also have access to runes that have different abilities; like skills, these runes have cooldown timers that must reset before they can be used again.
New System: Achievements An interesting addition to the game in that they have little to do with the actual gameplay. Like achievements earned through Xbox Live on Microsoft's console, tasks and goals you complete in the game earn you a points that feed into a total score. The notifications you receive for completing an achievement bear a very similar appearance to the Xbox Live or Steam counterparts as, once you complete the appropriate task, they blossom onto the bottom of your screen with an accompanying sound effect. It's a satisfying notification, something designed along the lines of the WoW Power Leveling up sound and visual effect that adds that extra level of a sense of accomplishment.

On Election Day so much hope pride finely 8 years of inept rule to end. But still 2 MORE Months of waste a waste of time lives money. It seems like the Bush horror show will never end. A man we used to call President. A man I once respected has been reduced to acting like a spoiled child. I am talking my baseball and going home. As a nation in crises it seems to be failing can our economy last 2 months, how many businesses will we lose, how much retirement will we have left, how many unemployed , this is becoming a national emergency . sec. Paulson seems to be a total flop we keep bailing out A.I.G, no strings attached failed management left in charge, milking the system. We will end up throwing away the first 700 billion on investment banks AIG . When are the people going to stop this madness it is our government not the lobbyist’s special interests that buy off our leaders. I believe we have some with good intentions but few on either side are looking out for us .I do believe the power our reps and president have is granted to them by the people never forget it is our government. I want people to be angry with it demand more accept loyalty to us. Write every elected official call them email tell them we are sick of this. We need action now. Very angry!!!!!!!!!!! that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

Once I thought that I was the most the lucky girt in the world. I had the memory of that I had met my boyfriend the same day in the last year. We called today singles day. One year ago, I rushed into the net square for Clarkson, she had a bad mood at that time because of his boyfriend, he wanted to be apart with her.             If you don’t want to bail out Detroit, don’t!

If you do, do.

But whatever you do, stop the public posturing!

You’ve only been grilling Detroit bigwigs for one day but we’re already sick of your ‘sound-bite’ complaints . . . Okay?

Besides, though you may not believe it, we don’t need you to tell us what’s wrong with Detroit.

We know what’s wrong with Detroit; they’re not selling enough cars.

And, because they’re not selling enough cars, General Motors is burning through cash at the rate of $2 billion a month.

We understand that at that rate, GM will soon run out of money . . . who wouldn’t?

We’ve also figured out that Chrysler is on its last legs.

And, we know that although Ford may not be in as bad shape as its ‘brothers-in-arms’, that big blue ain’t exactly sittin’ in high cotton.

            We know that bankruptcy filings are possible, but we wonder, why would you push the Big Three that far?

            What’s the gain?

            Sure, you get to make political points and let us know how tough you are, but though the posturing is important to you, it isn’t to us.

            We don’t care about how tough you are, we care about 3 million Americans who will lose their jobs; we care about thousands of Big Three vendors that will fail; we care about thousands of Chrysler, Ford, and GM dealerships that will lose even more customers if one or more of the Big Three file for bankruptcy protection; and we care about the ‘rumble’ effect that will take away tax revenues from entire states, counties, cities, and towns if the Big Three go down.

You want guarantees that the Big Three will become more efficient to be more competitive?

Okay . . . spell out those guarantees . . . chapter and verse!

You want the Big Three to build more fuel efficient cars and trucks?

Okay . . . tell them what you want and when you want it!

You want the Big Three to renegotiate union contracts?

Okay . . . tell them how much you think the unions should give up and when.

Just lay it out . . . tell them . . . and us . . . the truth about what you want.

Detroit will either do what you want or it won’t.

Don’t forget that the current crisis isn’t entirely the fault of the Big Three; after all, for the past eight years you and the Bush Administration overspent the nation into virtual bankruptcy, diluting capital available for consumer lending; causing unprecedented small business failures; helping to cause the Wall Street Meltdown and subsequent credit crunch and huge job losses.

So, what do you plan to do now about easing credit and what do you plan to do now about creating more jobs so more Americans can buy more of those more efficient cars Detroit will produce after your new rules and regulations kick in?

Huh?

A lot of things going on lately, great that Stevens lost that is so cool I thought for sure the Senate would have to boot him but the Alaskan voters came through after all. I am sure many here are unhappy about Lieberman keeping his Chairmanship but if not why would he stay with caucus, he will vote with the Dems most of the time and Obama wanted him in the fold. Eric Holden first black AG and very qualified for the job. Tom Daschle for Health and Human services seems like a good choice. Of course Hillary Clinton possibly SOS, this seems to be big question for many, I am good with it if Obama and Clinton are both for it, I know some think Richardson should get it and maybe he should but there isnt much talk about it and he could still get another post. Overall I very pleased with all of his decisions and think things are going quite smoothly for him so far. Finally there also is a lot tension about what to do with the auto industry I have said here before they should do it 25 billion is a drop in the bucket compared to doing nothing and going into a real depression, I know some think that is good thing but it wont be good for the country or the Democratic party if this economy goes into a real tailspin and we get double-digit unemployment and all the other terrible effects that could come from inaction from the government.
Economists will undoubtedly be able to explain why this is wrong, so I'll be watching.
Today- I don't really care who caused this mess with the economy. I don't want to hear anybody testify about the cause, the plan ,the change of plan, or any industry or business ask for money. Nor am I interested in the G7 then G20 meetings. I think the best plan is to stop trading on the stock market immediately,before the average American has nothing left. If we continue to lose at the current rate, it won't matter if loans are available or the auto,financial ,housing,insurance or any other business has been saved. The bottom line is ,We won't have any money to buy anything but the absolute essentials-and maybe not those.
I know today, I decided there will be no Holiday spending.I had planned to purchase gifts, but that will not happen now. Do you think other citizens are making the same decision. As the market began to fall, the advice from all those who were supposed to know- advised that people just wait it out. Now--my investment is almost completely gone.I was waiting ,as was the common advice. I know many people in the same situation. So now, I don't care who caused it- I think we need to stop the stock market until things settle. It has been done before.
The loss of the big 3 with a bankrupt auto market. Has anyone thought about the big 3 Automakers enter bankruptcy. I do believe the idea has been put into heads not to buy a Ford, GM, or Chrysler. Or main street dealers are doomed these are jobs in almost every town. Who is going to cover warranties if the dealer is not paid. How are parts to be made. If the parts company is not being paid I don’t think they will survive. I have a new pickup I should have waited 6 months and bought a Toyota. Now stuck In my town 3 dealers don’t have a chance. No one will buy an American car. I was told the bailout was to help main street not Wall Street secretary Paulson has failed 700 billion will just disappear .We need oversight Paulson wanted to have total control over bailout. Congress was to oversee money. What a joke Paulson hands it to poorly run bank and A.I.G. the markets falling, home prices still falling. We need a President for the next 2 months, this is just a joke. Having no one in charge I feel powerless.
